Traci Scudder is the Principal at Scudder Legal, a boutique law practice that includes various aspects of real estate development, with a focus on land use, zoning, and municipal law. Ms. Scudder’s practice also includes restaurant and hospitality law and estate planning.
Ms. Scudder has extensive experience in large-scale mixed-use projects, retail shopping centers, multi-family developments, single-family and duplex residential developments, senior and affordable housing, church projects, and licensing requirements regarding new restaurants and lounges.
She represents a wide array of clients, including residential and commercial landowners, real estate investors, mixed-use developers/builders, corporations, nonprofit institutions, restaurants, and other retail establishments. Ms. Scudder offers extensive services to those who have encountered increasingly complex regulatory and legislative issues during all phases of the development process. She provides her clients with the information they need to navigate the processes for site plan approvals, special exceptions, local map amendments, zoning text amendments, variances, building, and occupancy permits, subdivision, and takes care of the details involved in obtaining entitlements and other governmental approvals.
She also performs due diligence analyses on individual properties, as well as on large portfolios of assets for potential buyers. She frequently appears and participates in public hearings before the Planning Board to obtain zoning approvals, as well as before the County Council (sitting as the District Council) on zoning matters.
Ms. Scudder is a member of the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association and the Urban Land Institute.
